Welcome to the Highland Oaks Mighty Hawks Band! Our band program has a tradition of excellence and we are thrilled that you are a part of it!  The goal of our band program is to develop our students musical talent and expand their musical achievements through performance opportunities with a lifelong love of music.  The keys to our success at Highland Oaks are parental support, individual responsibility with musicianship and academics, maintaining a positive attitude, commitment, teamwork, and practicing daily to achieve musical growth.

Meet The Director

​

The director earned a Master’s degree in Music Education (M.M.E) from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education (B.M.E.) from Mississippi Valley State University. 

​

Mr. Bell has over thirty years of successful teaching experience and currently is serving his fifteenth year as the Director of Bands at Highland Oaks Middle School. Mr. Bell is a professional musician and composer specializing in saxophone, band arranging, and music technology.  His professional affiliations include the West TN School Band and Orchestra Association (WTSBOA), TN Music Education Association (TMEA), and the National Association For Music Education (NAFME).
